Three of our academy coaches, including the academy manager, have moved on as a rethink to the way the academy is run and the direction that we take is undertaken.

“Phil, Brian and David leave with our best wishes for the future and with our thanks for the hard work they done for Derby County.

“It is our wish to take the academy in a new direction as we look to move the club forward and that will include new leadership at its helm.

“The academy is an important part of our club’s future and we intend to focus our energies on finding and developing the very best talent in Derbyshire and across the East Midlands.

“Derby County Football Club will make a further announcement regarding the future structure of the academy in due course.”

The statement was issued on the official website.

Those leaving Derby were academy manager Phil Cannon, assistant Brian Borrows and technical manager David Lowe. Lowe was of course the temporary manager during our 1-0 win over Man United at Pride Park in the Carling Cup. Best of luck to all three of them.
