Nigel Clough is keen to keep Ben Davies at Pride Park and talks have begun to extend the midfielders contract beyond this season with this deal being up in the summer.

Davies joined The Rams in January 2011 from Notts County and made over thirty appearances in the side during his first full season in the following campaign. This time around Davies has been more of a bit part player but he has made a total of twenty-two appearances scoring four goals along the way including his volley against Blackpool last Saturday. The midfielder`s contract is up in the summer and Clough would like to extend his stay at Derby telling dcfc.co.uk:

“Ben`s done really well when we`ve called on him this season. We`ve said it before; he`s a model professional with a fantastic attitude and someone for our young players to look up to. With that in mind we`ve begun having a chat with Ben about keeping him around next season. We want to keep him around and hopefully we`ll get something sorted soon.”
