Derby defender Darren Moore looks back at last week’s thrashing at the hands of Liverpool and explains why the experience can only make the Rams stronger in his brand new www.icons.com diary.
‘We were taught a bit of a lesson by Liverpool and while no team wants to be on the end of a 6-0 defeat, we think we have learned something from that game and we’re stronger for the experience.
‘The simple fact is that we were up against opposition of the highest quality and a team that will be in the hunt for the Premiership title this season. They played some fantastic football and it’s just a shame that we were on the receiving end.
A confident Moore also says Billy Davies’ men have got what it takes to stay in the Premiership despite their shaky start to the campaign:
‘Teams like us can compete but it’s all about surviving this first season and then trying to move up to the next level. The longer we can stay in the Premiership, the better chance we have of making ourselves permanent residents.
‘Over the next two or three seasons we are aiming to get established and then get fully up to pace and I truly believe that we have the squad and the management team here to achieve that.’
