Paul Green believes that Derby County are moving in the right direction and progressing under Nigel Clough but that they need to improve their consistency and their form away from home in order to move up the Championship table after their fourteenth placed position last season. Speaking to the official website Green said:

‘We know we must perform better and get a better return away from home. Our home form has carried us through this season and has been just as good as sides in the top six, so we know where we need to improve.’

Green ended the season on a high note on a personal level being called into Giovanni Trappatoni`s training squad and then earning his first full Irish cap coming on as a substitute against Paraguay before earning a start and scoring against Algeria. After a tough season disrupted by injuries and inconsistency The Rams finished in fourteenth place, four places and two points better off than the previous season, and Green added:

‘It is all about consistency, we have let ourselves down against the ‘not-so-big’ teams like Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Blackpool. I am sure the gaffer is pleased how we finished the season. His aim was progression and we have achieved that – we’re moving in the right direction.’
