Kris Commons made his Scotland debut this week, and now the Derby midfielder is looking to force his way into the national side for the World Cup qualifiers.

‘Now that I’ve won my first cap, obviously I would like to be part of the qualifiers. I have trained well with the squad and made a little impact against Northern Ireland so all I can do is hope to get another call-up.

‘I have enjoyed every minute of it and I am looking for more.

‘I don’t know if this will be my last call-up, you never know, but hopefully I will keep playing well for Derby and I will be able to show the Scottish fans a few more touches.

‘There are still a lot of quality players to come back in and there are already a lot of good players here so I hope we can get to the World Cup finals.’

After a surprise call-up, with Commons qualifying through a grandparent, the summer signing got his chance as a second half substitute in the 0-0 draw with Northern Ireland on Wednesday night.
