Nigel Clough has confirmed that Kris Commons will miss the match with Chesterfield on Saturday and is unexpected to make the trio to the South West due to a tight hamstring.

“Kris is not available for Chesterfield which will probably mean he does not go down to the south coast with us next week.

He will need to stay at Moor Farm to catch up on the week or two of training he has missed.”

Derby face Yeovil Town, Torquay United and Exeter City in the five-day tour of the Westcountry next week but the Scottish international is out and won’t play regardless.

“The lads will be playing matches but Kris will not be ready to do that.

He needs to do quite a bit of work in order to catch up with the rest of the lads even now.”

There was better news on Rob Hulse though as the striker has come through training and is expected to be fit for Saturday.

“Rob completed everything, which is good. We will look to get him some time on the pitch on Saturday.”

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
