It is looking like a cracking final day to the 2017-18 season next Sunday, with the Rams needing just a draw, or a single point to be confirmed in sixth place and grasp their place in the play-offs for this season.
The Rams are the team that keeps on giving however and a victory over Barnsley could open the door for local rivals Burton Albion to stay in the Championship. This is all dependant on Burton beating an in-form Preston side that could theoretically beat Derby to that final play-off place.
The worst possible scenario for both the Rams and Burton would be for them both to lose. Derby would miss out on the play-offs and Burton would then be relegated to League One.
So it looks like self-help and mutual help would be the order of the day for every day this coming week and certainly on Sunday.
The entire season could hinge on one player’s mistake, a refereeing decision or piece of skill.
Whatever happens, you have to say Derby County have made it interesting, not to mention nail-biting to the very end
Good luck Derby and ‘Come on you Brewers’.
