Following Derby’s late equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Southampton on Tuesday night Nigel Clough insisted that we are not out of relegation trouble just yet despite an upturn in form under his leadership.

“We are not out of trouble yet by any means and the situation at the bottom of the table is so tight it will take more than 50 points to be sure of safety.

“That is one defeat in the last eight games which is a lovely run and good for our confidence.

“We only started playing after we had gone a goal behind and that is disappointing.

“When Southampton scored, it seemed to spur us into action and in the end we might even have got all three points if Davies’ shot had gone in.”

Clough was talking a after the game.

We had chances to have gone ahead in this match before we did slip behind, but the point in this match could prove crucial come the end of the season.

I do think that we are just about safe now anyway but we can’t relax as this is when trouble could return, but Clough has us playing good football and the confidence is high so I do not fear relegation as a serious problem really.
