Nigel Clough hopes to have a couple more new faces in place by the time his Derby County side return for the start of pre-season training on Friday. With six new additions so far Clough has spoken of his desire to have the deals done as quickly as possible in order to allow the players time to settle in before the new season kicks-off. Chris Maguire looks likely to be one of the deals with his contract at Aberdeen expiring this week although the two sides have yet to reach an agreement on the compensation for the 22 year old striker.

Frank Fielding, Jamie Ward, Theo Robinson, Craig Bryson, Nathan Tyson and Jason Shackell have all put pen to paper on deals with The Rams as Clough has acted quickly to shake up a squad that just about did enough to retain their Championship status last season. The Maguire deal looks to make it seven with the player having already reportedly agreed personal terms for the switch and recent rumours have also linked John Eustace, Martyn Waghorn and Burton Albion goalkeeper Adam Legzdins with switches to Pride Park. Talking to dcfc.co.uk Clough hinted there are more deals in the pipeline saying:

‘We are reasonably pleased with the business we’ve conducted so far. There’s still a bit of work to do both in and out. We have a few more positions to fill, for cover or otherwise. We are actively working hard to secure those deals; hopefully some can be completed this week.

‘In an ideal world we would like them in by the start of training. We are close with a couple which we hope to tie up before Friday, and then a few more at some point in July.’
