Derby County have begun talks to extend Craig Bryson`s contract with just over twelve months left on his current deal and Nigel Clough is keen to keep the player at the club.

Bryson came to Pride Park from Kilmarnock in the summer of 2011 and has played an integral part in the side ever since making a total of 85 appearances and being voted Player of the Year in his first season for The Rams. Injuries curtailed his second season a little with the midfielder having to be nursed through games at times but he still put in some memorable performances including scoring the winner in the 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in September. Clough is keen to get Bryson tied down to a new deal and told the Derby Evening Telegraph:

“It is a priority for us to get him tied down on a new deal. There are not too many Craig Brysons out there. We have been looking but we have only found one in the last couple of seasons. With his attributes and qualities, we see him being integral to our plans for the future.”
