Clough To Raid Former Club?

Nigel Clough is being linked with a return to his former club Burton in an attempt to sign Jake Buxton.

Buxton, who is highly rated, is a player Clough has compared to a former teammate of his Alex Baptiste, who is currently playing in the Championship for Blackpool.

“Jake played at the back at Mansfield with Alex Baptiste, who is now a regular in Blackpool’s side in the Championship.

“He (Baptiste) went from the Conference and there are still one or two players who can achieve that. So when we sit down and go through our list, you never know.”

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

When manager of Burton Clough signed the 24-year-old from Mansfield, where he had played more than 150 matches, so he knows the defenders capabilities. There are still some very good players to be found in the lower leagues or non-league so this shouldn’t put people off, and it doesn’t seem to put Clough off.
