Barry Bannan has been a major success story of the final months of this season so it’s no surprise that Nigel Clough is keen to bring him back to Derby on loan again next season.

Clough admits that Aston Villa aren’t interested in selling him, but he hopes that a deal can be agreed to see the 19-year-old return on loan again next season and is also hopeful on agreeing something with Arsenal for Nacer Barazite who will return to his parent club when his season long loan ends.

“We will have a chat about Nacer Barazite in the next week or so, and Barry Bannan, who has done ever so well for us since coming in, he will go back to Aston Villa because they want to keep him.

“But he is one we would certainly look at trying to get back for next season for a loan spell.

“He is a great lad to work with and most importantly he is a good player.”

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

The youngster is a dead cert to be a future Scotland international, and this could come sooner rather than later, and he’s believed to be highly thought of at Aston Villa but his chances in the first team next season might be slim, so hopefully Martin O’Neill can see the benefits of allowing us to have him on loan with us for next season?

Przemyslaw Kazimierczak isn’t going to be staying with Derby though as Clough is allowing him to return to Porto after a mixed season on loan.
