Nigel Clough yesterday confirmed that DJ Campbell was one of the players that he was trying to bring to Derby on loan.

“There are lots of phone calls at the moment but we have contacted Leicester and we are waiting to hear from them. He (Campbell) is one of a few players we have asked about and we think he wants to come here.

I think we will get somebody in but it is about getting the right quality. I think the main criteria is pace. The player must have a bit of pace.”

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Less than 24-hours later the 28-year-old striker, who is out of favour with Leicester, has come to Pride Park on an initial one-month loan and should go straight into the squad to face Reading on Saturday.
