Stephen Bywater has already expressed a desire to stay with Derby beyond the end of the season and according to BBC Radio Derby he will be getting wish granted shortly.

The 27-year-old has come back into the side under Nigel Clough to become his number one, replacing Roy Carroll. Bywater, who is out of contract in the summer, has said he wants to stay and a new contract was expected to have been signed by the end of the week. This hasn’t happened yet, so it seems more likely that it will happen next week.

Clough has said that a “positive announcement” regarding the goalkeeper’s future was imminent.
