Jacob Butterfield is hoping to impress manager Gary Rowett and create a role for himself within the new look squad ahead of the season.

Butterfield knows he needs to show what he can do in pre-season if he wants to be part of Rowett`s plans and with the players having reported back for pre-season training now is the time to impress. Talking to Derby Evening Telegraph the former Huddersfield Town midfielder said:

‘A new manager comes in and he’s got his own ideas and his own style that he wants. The gaffer has been having a look at everyone and figuring out what he wants to do. It’s up to us to try to impress him and try to be part of his plans. It’s a great club and everyone wants to be here and be part of something special, hopefully, this season.’
