Adam Pearson has confirmed that Premier League new boys Burnley are closing in on a deal to sign Tyrone Mears.

“Talks are due to take place between the player’s agent and the club.

Burnley are a Premier League club with a fantastic manager and we have a good relationship with them.

Let’s hope something can be sorted out because it is a fantastic opportunity for Tyrone.”

Pearson was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Burnley boss Owen Coyle and Mears’ agent Willie McKay have also spoken on this issue and both hope that a deal can be arranged when the defender returns from his holiday, which is expected to be early next week.

An offer of around £500,000, with add-ons to follow, is believed to have been accepted by Derby and talks will take place between Mears and Burnley next week.
