John Brayford is being linked with a summer move to Derby and the Crewe defender has said that he’s flattered by reports that he could link up with his former Burton boss Nigel Clough.

“It is nice to be linked with teams in higher divisions but it is just speculation.

“People have put two and two together because Clough is my old boss but my objective is with Crewe at the moment.”

Brayford was speaking to BBC Radio Stoke.

The 21-year-old played for Clough at Burton so the links to the highly rated defender aren’t exactly surprising, but with Crewe looking likely to drop into League Two a move away could be on the cards for the £105,000 signing, an initial £80,000 was paid followed by a further £25,000.
