With Championship safety still not officially confirmed yet Nigel Clough has urged the players to lift themselves and be up for the match with Charlton on Saturday to secure safety.

“It is just important that everybody picks themselves up for Saturday.

“It is really irrelevant what has happened in the last 44 games or 18 months, however long, it is just about Saturday.

“So we are still in a position where it will take a few strange results, I think. And that’s without us getting anything at all.”

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Our conquerors on Tuesday, Reading, then face Norwich on Monday so we’ll be hoping they can do us a favour, although doing this ourselves on Saturday would be favourable as relying on others is always a dangerous game to play.

A point against Charlton should be enough to secure our Championship safety regardless of Norwich beating Reading or not on Monday.
