Blackburn`s Savage a Rams target?

Reports in the press this week has the Rams linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers controversial midfielder Robbie Savage. The former Crewe, Leicester City and Birmingham player looks like his time at Ewood Park is over and a number of clubs are tracking the situation including the Rams

Savage is said to be unsettled with not getting regular football and Rams boss Paul Jewell – who was keen to sign him when he was boss at Wigan – is keen on bringing him to Pride Park. Other clubs interested in Savage are Wigan, Sunderland.

Rovers` manager Mark Hughes will be unwilling to do business for the Welshman as he tries to keep the current squad together until the summer at least, but that may not stop bids coming in.

The 33-year-old was unhappy about not walking straight back into the Rovers first team earlier this month after recovering from a knee injury, however he has been back in the starting line up for Blackburn’s last two games.

Blackburn manager, Mark Hughes, said: “Sav is not happy when he`s not playing but he`s playing so I`m sure he`s happy.”

Rams boss Jewell has made it clear where he stands on transfer speculation, he said: “We have already been linked with a couple of players. I’m not saying they aren’t good players but I’ve certainly not spoken to anyone about them, and I will not comment on speculation,’ added the Rams boss
