Despite failing to make an appearance for the club since joining them on loan Giles Barnes has expressed his desperation to remain with Fulham beyond the end of the season.

“It would be disappointing to go back, because I believe I can play at this level.

“I’ve set my heart on staying with Fulham. If they want to extend my stay I’d be very happy to do so.

“It’s been a big frustration not to play but there’s eight games left so there’s still time.”

Barnes was talking to Fulham’s official website.

It would be interesting to see what the 20-year-old, who joined Fulham on loan in January but hasn’t been able to feature in the first-team yet due to heel and knee injuries, thought if another Premier League side came in for him? Would he still be as desperate to stay with them?

Fulham are a very good Premier League team, and a well established one so he could do a lot worse, but the midfielder could have been a bit more respectful to the club that actually owns him and cant surely be in that much of a hurry to return to the Premier League that he would jump at the first chance he got! His moving on is probably best for everyone, but tactfulness and maybe thinking before he speaks (as these thoughts could come back to haunt him) might be something that he can learn from Roy Hodgson.
