Shaun Barker is being linked with Derby, among others, but the Blackpool player has played down this speculation saying that he’s happy where he is.
“If you hear other clubs are interested it is nice, a bit of an ego boost for yourself I suppose.
“But I’ve heard nothing about anything more definite, so at the moment it’s just speculation.
“If you play a few games for a club it’s always likely that clubs are going to watch. It’s then about whether or not another club takes it a step further, which you never know.”
“I’ve played another two seasons at Blackpool since and been very happy here and there’s no reason why that shouldn’t carry on. The last three years have been the happiest of my life.”
Barker was talking to the Blackpool Gazette.
Nigel Clough is in the market for a defender, this is something that he has openly admitted, so the 26-year-old does fit the bill and being voted the Players Player of the Year for Blackpool shows he has quality. Leicester, Forest and Leeds have all been linked as well.
With Barker insisting that he’s happy where he is unless a good offer was made for him that Blackpool accepted it’s unlikely that this will change.
