Derby County`s injury jinx struck again with news that Shaun Barker is facing a spell out with what appears to be a recurrence of the thigh strain that kept him sidelined in the summer.

There is no official word on the exact nature and timescale of the injury with the official site stating this will keep him out for ‘a number of weeks’. Nigel Cough told dcfc.co.uk:

‘It’s a big blow because Shaun was just starting to settle in and had a very good game against Sheffield Wednesday in our last victory. He is a great pro and someone who hates to miss matches, so we are confident he will recover quickly and get himself back in action.”

Clough`s side have an already potentially crippling injury list with Miles Addison already looking set to miss out with Dean Leacock and Jake Buxton also doubtful at the heart of the defence. Jay McEveley had a solid game against Sheffield Wednesday in the 3-0 victory just before the international break and looks set to continue in his more central role.
