Coventry City have taken young striker Callum Ball on a season long loan from Derby County with Nigel Clough hoping the deal will the give the striker some much needed experience.

Ball has been with the The Rams all of the way through the youth and academy setup and broke into the first-team last season and scored three goals in a total of twenty-five appearances one of which was in the 1-0 victory over the Sky Blues at Pride Park in January. Reports differ as to whether this was part of the deal that brought Richard Keogh to Derby but Coventry manager Andy Thorn was keen to take the youngster to the Ricoh Arena telling the Coventry Telegraph:

“I`ve liked Callum for some time so I am really pleased we`ve been able to get him here. He`s young, he`s hungry and he`s already a big, strong striker and we think he will be a massive asset for us this season. He played 23 games in the Championship last season and he will fit in with what we want to do here.”
